Guide Dogs
Guide Dogs: “Guide Dogs receives no government funding and so relies entirely on the generous fundraising efforts of its supporters such as Cameron, who take on such inspirational challenges in order to ensure more visually impaired people can benefit from the life-transforming independence, confidence and freedom provided by a guide dog.”

RNIB: supporting blind and partially sighted people
The Royal National Institute of Blind People: “Every day another 100 people will start to lose their sight. The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) are delighted to be beneficiaries of the Optical Express South Pole Challenge 2007 as this will enable them to support more of the 2 million blind or partially sighted people throughout the UK.”

Royal College of Ophthalmologists: “The Royal College of Ophthalmologists is pleased to support the Optical Express South Pole Challenge as it will help determine the effects of 24 hour daylight on the vision mediated circadian rhythm, and the consequential effects on non-visual physiology. It may also provide some preliminary data which may help improve our understanding of the effects of continuous illumination on the retina and its diseases.”

Mr Winfried Amoaku FRCS, FRCOphth, PhD, Vice President, and Chair, Scientific Committee Royal College of Ophthalmologists
